The building at Eichelstraße 17 has a long history, dating back to around 1850 when it housed a bakery and butcher shop. In 1975, Peter Kimpfler and his wife Pia leased the Ochsen (Ox) before becoming the proud owners in 1978. Despite the building's modest condition, they initiated renovations, supported by Pia's brother, who worked in the heating and plumbing business. In 1986, the main dining room was given its current appearance, and in 1988, their son Wolfgang began his apprenticeship in the hospitality industry. In 1994, due to his father's health problems, Wolfgang took over the business. In 2001, the Eichelstraße building was renovated in an oxblood red hue, and the adjacent building at Burgstraße 1 was purchased. In 2010, Burgstraße 3 was added as the fourth building, and Wolfgang and his wife Olive built the Hotel am Mehlsack. This legacy has been passed down through generations of the family.
